The Alternative WI Calendar
The Alternative WI Calendar
has become an international phenomena and has gone down in English
folklore. The calendar featured 11 mature ladies posing naked, except
for a string of pearls, doing the traditional crafts of the WI.
The idea was to raise money for the Leukaemia Research Fund following
the death of his friend John Baker.
The calendar outsold the famous Pirelli one and many others and
the tale has now been made into a major film, Calendar Girls,
starring Helen Mirren, Julie Walters, Annette Crosby and an all-star
cast of British actors.
The calendar has now raised over £1 million and is well on
the way to a second million.
In response to numerous requests, Leukaemia Research asked us to
produce another calendar for 2007.
This calendar, which is based on the original but has 6 new images,
will be launched this April in York.
Copies are available priced at £10 + £2 p+p direct from
Leukaemia Research, 43 Great Ormond St, London, WC1N 3JJ. Alternatively you can go to:www.lrf.org.uk or telephone 01923 779181
